Sewer Pipe Issues
Sewer pipe issues are popping up in Anthem and other older communities built in the early 2000. When these homes were built it will often have new pipe installed within the house envelope itself and extending a few feet into the yard. The yard area is where the old sewer pipe will start up again and continue all the way to the city sewer main. The main issue is when they fail and who will pay for them. Homeowners insurance in most cases will not cover this cost which could a $4,000 and upwards. Keep in mind that the company would have to dig a hole to find the pipe which will destroy your landscaping and often times the irrigation system. There are several companies that will cover the cost but you have to add it to your policy. There are several private companies but I recommend you check with your current insurance to see if they have the coverage. The cost is minimal such as $60.00 a year. Well worth the investment.
Sewer pipe issues warning signs include several backups in home over a short period of time. Call your local plumbing company and have them place a camera in the sewer pipe and make sure the pipe is not broke or roots have compromised the pipe. Always view the results with the plumber (physically be there). Clean out valves are often buried by landscapers and should be identified. It is a long process and have very expensive to the homeowner. Sometimes, the companies will bore a hole down the street for other services such as fiber. They may hit your sewer line which would make them at fault. The safest way to address this problem is through insurance. If you carry a home warranty, make sure this is covered by contacting them directly. Here are some other tips that may help.
